PROJECT "Eco Sticker"
Target: United States Postal System (USPS) universal logo sticker system. Postal customers can place a sticker on their mailbox if they do not want to receive any junk mail (mail not specifically addressed to their name) and refuse all un-addressed unsolicited mail.
Promote a universal eco-logo to be used worldwide as a symbol for environmentalism and eco-responsibility.
Why funds needed: To provide personnel strength to write the USPS and travel to their office to negotiate action.
Result: Trillions of tons of trees saved, less vehicle pollution from delivering junk mail, less landfill. (Urgent need!)
Our Current Mission: Stop Unwanted & Environmentally
Damaging Bulk [Junk] Mail from the U.S. Postal Service:
We are focused on finding a way to stop the USPS from forcing all of its customers from receiving unsolicited bulk junk mail. Currently, all postal customers must receive, whether they want to or not, all mail addressed to the following:
"PREST STD US Postage Paid Permit #__ City, St"
"Boxholder"
"Current Resident" "Resident"
"Postal Customer" "Postal Customer or Current Resident"
"Postal Patron" "Postal Patron Local"
".... Neighbor" "Our Neighbor at"
"Friends of ... "
At least 99.9% of all mail sent to the above titles are unsolicited bulk junk mail that most people are FORCED to be anti-environmental (anti-earth!) by throwing it away in their own trash which ultimately ends up in landfills. There are ways to stop companies from sending you junk mail, but usually ONLY if the mail is addressed to you personally.
Customers should have a choice as to whether to receive such mail or not. Our solution is simple: The USPS could adapt a sticker program where its customer may place a certain little sticker on their mailbox lid that signifies they do not want to receive any mail addressed as listed above. It's that simple.
Junk Mail Affects You:
* Each person will receive almost 560 pieces of junk mail this year.
* The average person gets only 1.5 personal letters each week, compared to 10.8 pieces of junk mail.
* More than 4 million tons (62,000,000,000 (billion) pieces) of junk mail are produced yearly.
* A large amount of household waste consists of unsolicited mail.
* California’s governments spend $500,000 yearly disposing of AOL’s direct mail disks alone.
* $320 million of local taxes are used to dispose of unsolicited mail each year.
* Individually, an average of 41 pounds of junk mail are sent to every adult each year. Approximately 44% goes to a landfill unopened.
* Your address is worth 3 to 20 cents each time it is sold.
* It costs the U.S. Postal System $550 million yearly to transport junk mail.
Junk Mail Affects the Environment:
* The production and disposal of junk mail consumes more energy than about 3 million cars.
* 100 million trees are cut down and destroyed each year for junk mail.
* 42% of timber harvested nationwide ends up as pulp wood for paper.
* It takes wasting 28 billion gallons of water for paper processing each year.
* If you cut your bulk mail for 5 years, you will conserve 1.7 trees, 700 gallons of water and prevent 460 pounds of carbon dioxide.
* 41% of the solid mass that makes up our landfills is paper related waste. By the year 2010, it is predicted to make up about 50%.
* Scarce landfill space ruins many land masses and pollutes much ground water.
* Junk mail is hard to recycle because the inks have heavy metals.

PROJECT: Grassroots Information
People are consumptionists, opposite of conservationists; therefore we are destroying [earth's environment] and will ultimately be responsible for wiping out all of its inhabitants. Do you want to live the rest of your life on earth only to take away much more than you ever give back?
Most of us are very far from being "carbon neutral".
